Welcome to the Chicago Italian-American Charitable Organization website. By accessing or using this website, including any members-only features such as the Who’s Who Member Directory, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use this website.

1. Use of This Website

This website is provided for informational, charitable, organizational and member-service purposes. You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not damage, disable or impair the website or interfere with any other person’s use of it.

2. Members-Only Access

Certain portions of this website, including the Who’s Who Member Directory, may be restricted to current members.

Access to restricted areas is provided solely for the personal, noncommercial use of authorized members. You may not share, copy, distribute, scrape, harvest or republish directory content for commercial solicitation, mass marketing or any unauthorized purpose.

3. Member Directory Information

The Who’s Who Member Directory contains self-reported information from members. While the Chicago Italian-American Charitable Organization makes reasonable efforts to maintain the security and integrity of the directory, we do not verify, endorse or guarantee the accuracy, completeness or current status of directory information.

Directory information is provided as a convenience to members. CIACO is not responsible for errors, omissions, outdated information or reliance placed on any directory listing.

4. Privacy and Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical and practical measures to help protect member information and restricted areas of the website. However, no website, database or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Accordingly, while we work to safeguard information, the Chicago Italian-American Charitable Organization cannot and does not guarantee absolute security and is not liable for unauthorized access, hacking, data interception, system failure or other events beyond its reasonable control. 

5. Usernames and Passwords

If you are given login credentials for members-only access, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password.

You agree that:

  • You will not share your password with anyone else

  • You will not allow another person to access the members-only directory through your account

  • You will notify CIACO promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

  • You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your login credentials until you report a compromise

Protecting passwords is a basic security expectation, and intentional credential sharing can undermine site security controls. 

6. Acceptable Use of the Directory

The members-only directory is intended to foster communication and connection among members of CIACO.

You may not use the directory to:

  • Send spam or unsolicited commercial messages

  • Harass, intimidate or stalk any member

  • Collect or compile member data for resale or outside distribution

  • Impersonate another person

  • Upload or transmit malicious code or harmful material

CIACO reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for misuse of the website or directory.

7. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise noted, the content on this website, including text, graphics, logos and design elements, is owned by or used with permission by the Chicago Italian-American Charitable Organization and may not be copied, reproduced or distributed without permission.

8. Third-Party Links

This website may contain links to third-party websites for convenience. CIACO does not control and is not responsible for the content, security, privacy practices or availability of third-party sites.

9. Disclaimer

This website and its contents are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Chicago Italian-American Charitable Organization disclaims warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Chicago Italian-American Charitable Organization shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use this website or the members-only directory.

This includes, without limitation, damages related to data loss, service interruption, unauthorized access, reliance on directory information or misuse of member information by third parties.

11. Changes to These Terms

CIACO may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
